Felix Auger-Aliassime confirms if he’s still carrying an injury as he prepares to play first ATP Finals match

Felix Auger-Aliassime is preparing to embark on a first ATP Finals campaign for three years in Turin.

Auger-Aliassime qualified for the ATP Finals outright, with Lorenzo Musetti missing out on automatic qualification when he lost to Novak Djokovic in the ATP 250 final in Athens.

Auger-Aliassime took to social media to react to qualifying for the ATP Finals outright and he will be hoping to give a good account of himself at the event.

After a gruelling season, the tournament does come at the wrong time for some players, however, and with how much effort Auger-Aliassime has put in just to make the event, it remains to be seen what shape he’s in.

Ahead of a daunting opening match – and a repeat of the Paris Masters final with Jannik Sinner – Auger-Aliassime has been discussing how he’s feeling going into his curtain-raising match.

Felix Auger-Aliassime delivers fitness update

Auger-Aliassime comes into the ATP Finals in relatively good form and he enjoyed a very solid indoor campaign at the end of the year.

Given that he was beaten by Sinner recently in the final ATP Masters 1000 event in Paris, it wasn’t clear how he was feeling coming into the event.

Now, however, he’s shared an update that will delight his fans, and it would appear that he’s fighting fit ahead of his first match against the reigning champion.

He said in his press conference: ” Yeah, I came back home the next day, had to do some recovery. I mean, as you all know, I pulled out of Basel, got ready for Paris. I think I handled the situation well. It was tough matches. The body held up nicely.

“I had to recover after Paris. I was doing that for a few days at home. Then I came here Wednesday night, hoping that things would go my way, yeah.

“No. I feel good. Like, look, it’s the end of the season. I’ve been dealing with some things. But I feel ready. I feel good.

“I think it was not even like the right decision for me, it was the only decision because for me it was tough to think to play Wednesday already in any other tournament. It was also jeopardizing potentially this tournament. It was, like, the only right decision for me.

“Now I think I feel good and I feel ready to start.”

What happened the last time Auger-Aliassime qualified for the ATP Finals

It was a mixed bag of results for the Canadian when he previously qualified, although he was younger and a lot less experienced when that took place.

Novak Djokovic won the competition in 2022 as he defeated Casper Ruud – the second reserve at this year’s event – in the final.

Auger-Aliassime didn’t manage to escape his group, beating Rafael Nadal but losing to Ruud and Taylor Fritz to make an early exit from the competition.

The Canadian has been forced down the rankings since then, but in qualifying for the event this year, he will now hope to kick on at this event and build some momentum for 2026.
