Félix Auger-Aliassime Reveals Wedding Ring Complications While Playing Tennis, Days After Marrying Wife Nina

Félix Auger-Aliassime has returned to competitive play following his recent wedding to longtime partner Nina Ghaibi. The Canadian player, currently ranked 13th in the world, is navigating the challenges of professional tennis while adjusting to married life.

What Did Félix Auger-Aliassime Say About His Wedding?

Auger-Aliassime and his partner exchanged vows on September 20, 2025, at the luxury Selman Marrakech hotel in Morocco. The ceremony featured 120 guests and was described by the couple as “private, warm, emotional, and everything we could have ever wanted.”

Speaking about leaving the wedding festivities, Auger-Aliassime reflected on the emotional difficulty of departing from such a special moment. The 25-year-old Canadian admitted it was tough to leave the celebration, stating, “It’s the moment you just want to stay in, all your family, friends, and my wife, like it’s just such a unique and beautiful moment that it’s tough to leave.”

However, he expressed happiness about being back on the tennis courts.

The newlywed revealed an unexpected challenge during practice sessions – wearing his wedding ring while playing tennis. During training, Auger-Aliassime discovered that practicing with his wedding ring caused a blister on his finger. This practical issue forced him to reconsider wearing the ring during matches.

“I’m going to have to find a way to keep it safe. But I don’t think I’ll play with it, unfortunately, but I’ve got a little special bag for it. I’m gonna keep it safe in my Babolat tennis bag, so that’s going to be the plan,” Auger-Aliassime said.

This situation mirrors challenges faced by other professional tennis players. Russian player Daniil Medvedev has found a practical solution by wearing his wedding ring on a chain around his neck during matches, allowing him to keep the symbol of his marriage close while avoiding potential complications during play.

Tennis legend Andy Murray faced a similar predicament in 2021 when his tennis shoes were stolen at Indian Wells, with his wedding ring tied to the laces. Murray had developed the practice of tying his wedding ring to his shoes during matches to avoid playing with it on his finger.

Auger-Aliassime’s Return to Professional Tennis

Following his wedding, Auger-Aliassime is set to make his return to professional tennis at the Shanghai Masters, where he is the 12th seed. The timing led to some lighthearted moments, with the player joking about having his “honeymoon in Shanghai.” He posted photos on Instagram showing him with Nina, and the couple dining at Chinese restaurants, and his coach, Frederic Fontang.

The Canadian’s last tennis match was at the US Open, where he defeated Alexander Zverev, Andrey Rublev, and Alex de Minaur before falling to eventual runner-up Jannik Sinner 6-1, 3-6, 6-3, 6-4. This US Open semifinal run helped boost his ranking from outside the top 20 to his current position at No. 13.

Auger-Aliassime’s 2025 season has been notable, with 34 wins and 19 losses, including titles in Adelaide and Montpellier. He will be looking forward to maintaining the momentum and ending the season with higher ranking points.
